The Virginia Eventing and Dressage Team (VEDT) is a CIO Club Sport at the University of Virginia. VEDT is an organization where undergraduate and graduate students have the opportunity to excel as riders in the equestrian sports of eventing through participation in USEA sanctioned events as well as dressage through competitions held by the Intercollegiate Dressage Association (IDA). The team is a great way to continue to ride throughout college while competing and forming lifelong friendships. Team members have the opportunity to train, fundraise, compete, and socialize together throughout the year.

 

Our event riders represent VEDT at College Challenges each semester at recognized horse trials. Our dressage riders represent VEDT in the Intercollegiate Dressage Association and compete against Virginia Tech, Appalachian State University, Emory & Henry College, and Radford University in Region H. We qualified for nationals for IDA Nationals in both 2022 and 2023, placing 6th and 4th respectively! 

VEDT's coach Mimi Combs helps each rider form an individual plan to attain their goals for training and competing in schooling and/or licensed dressage shows, combined training, and horse trials.The team has mounted training sessions, clinics with outside trainers, and fundraising events.
