USEA Intercollegiate Eventing Team

IMG_6678 (1).png

VEDT's eventing riders compete in the USEA Intercollegiate Eventing program, which designates certain events as Intercollegiate Team Challenges and allows individual riders to combine their scores in order to compete as a team! There is a USEA Intercollegiate Eventing Championship every year that our riders compete in when scheduling allows it. We are not able to offer lesson horses for the eventing team, so riders must lease or own a horse to participate. However, there are many leasing options in the area and we encourage you to reach out anyway! If this is not possible, our dressage team does not require your own horse.

The eventing team does not also have a specified "home barn" but instead gives riders the flexibility to board where they want.

FAQs

Where does the team practice?

Since there is no home barn, riders can board and practice anywhere in the area. Many choose to board at Coach Mimi Comb's own barn. Riders are required to have at least one lesson with Mimi before competing.

Do riders need to have their own horses?

Yes, eventers must provide their own horse through leasing or ownership. We encourage you to reach out to us about leasing opportunities in the area. And remember, our dressage team does provide horses for you!

How much experience is required to join?

Since eventers are required to provide their own horse, riders should have previous riding experience.

How often does the team compete?

As often as riders want. There is a lot more flexibility than with IDA shows, as eventers can compete in any event they wish including Team Challenges.
